Licensing

Personal use

For your own walls, your own screens and your own accounts. Anything that touches money or a brand needs the commercial licence instead.

You may

  • Print it at any size, as many times as you like, for your own home
  • Use it as a wallpaper or lock screen on devices you own
  • Post it on personal, non-monetised social media, blogs or websites
  • Give one print as a gift, provided no money changes hands
  • Crop it or adjust the tone to suit a frame or a screen
  • Keep a backup copy of the file

You may not

  • Any commercial use at all — advertising, client work, business websites or business social accounts
  • Sell prints, canvases or merchandise carrying the image
  • Share, resell, lend or re-upload the file, paid or unpaid
  • Use it to train an AI model or add it to a dataset
  • Claim authorship, or strip out the copyright metadata
  • Register it as a trade mark, logo or design

Commercial use

Everything the personal licence allows, plus the right to use the image in paid work — advertising, editorial, packaging, and one named client project.

You may

  • Advertising and marketing in any medium, worldwide, with no time limit
  • Business websites, apps and business social accounts, uncapped
  • Editorial use in books, magazines, newspapers and their digital editions
  • Packaging, signage, point-of-sale and interior decoration of commercial premises
  • Print runs up to 500,000 units across all uses
  • One named end client, if you are an agency or a freelancer
  • Retouch, crop, composite or grade it as the design needs

You may not

  • Pass the file itself on to anyone beyond the printer or developer producing your project
  • Put it on a stock library, marketplace, print-on-demand or NFT platform
  • Sell it as a standalone product, where the image is the thing being bought
  • Use it to train an AI model or add it to a dataset
  • Register it as a trade mark, logo or design
  • Use it for a second end client without a second licence

Worth knowing

No releases. These photographs are made in public places, and unless I have told you otherwise there is no model or property release for the people, buildings, street art or branding in them. For personal use that rarely matters. For advertising it can, and the responsibility for clearing it sits with you — so tell me what you are planning and I will tell you honestly what is in the frame.

Non-exclusive. Both licences are non-exclusive and perpetual. The same image may be licensed to someone else, including a competitor. If you need it to be yours alone, ask.

No AI training. Neither licence permits using the image to train or fine-tune a machine-learning model, or to include it in a dataset.

Something bigger? Exclusivity, print runs past 500,000, multi-client agency terms and buy-outs are all available as bespoke agreements. Get in touch with what you need.
